Ghanshyam is the leader of a civil society organization Judav operating in the state of Jharkhand. Judav works with rural workers and small farmers especially in areas, where a notable portion of the population belongs to indigenous peoples (adivasis).

V.B. Singh is an emeritus professor and the former director of the notable Centre for the Study of Developing Societies. His interest is especially democracy in elections and the Indian political system.

Vijay Pratap put forward the initiative for the Indian Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – A Coalition for Comprehensive democracy, aiming to deepen and expand the concept and practices of democracy. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam means "the whole world is a family". Vijay Pratap is one of the central actors in the World Social Forum process. He also participates in the Helsinki Process led by the Finnish Forteign Ministry.
