Socialism of the Future / Future of Socialism

Organised as part of the Asian Social Forum process, the seminar brought into focus the various aspects of socialism. It was attended by a large number of activists from different parts of the world. In fact, activists subscribing to the various streams of communism, Marxism, Gandhian socialism, socialism of Lohia, socialism of Jaiprakash Narayan, Leninist socialism, Stalinist socialism, Maoist socialism, democratic socialism - all of them were part and parcel of the seminar. Those who did not subscribe to any shade of socialism also took part in the seminar. The people coming from diverse backgrounds shared their ideas, exchanged their views on the future of socialism in these challenging times of neo-colonisation in the name of globalisation, privatisation, and corporatisation. The seminar was co-chaired by socialist Front leader Surendra Mohan and legendary communist leader Kanu Sanyal. Annanya Bhattacharya and Ajit Jha conducted the proceedings. The seminar was a result of the great need felt for dialogue on socialism.
